About Us

South Washington Alternative High School (SWAHS) offers a supportive and personalized learning environment for students in grades 10-12, focusing on building positive relationships with staff, smaller class sizes, credit recovery, and preparing students for their next steps.

Students receive more individualized support from teachers, fostering confidence and a sense of belonging. SWAHS also emphasizes academic and personal growth through teacher advisement, setting goals, and monitoring progress.

SWAHS provides a range of extracurricular opportunities, including Clubs and Activities Day, field trips focused on college and career preparation, and work-based learning for earning credits. As an AVID-certified school, students participate in AVID seminars and have access to a variety of programs such as career and technical education, a Summer School, and After-School Credit Recovery Program.

Additionally, SWAHS offers buddy reading and mentoring programs to engage with students with the wider community. The school operates on a six-week term schedule and places students in appropriate programs based on individual needs.
